The Shattered Power

In the void, an all-consuming power shatters into eight shards. Each shard calls to a different origin. Choose one to shape your hero's first steps.
Shard of Strength (Brick)
Unstoppable force meeting unbreakable flesh; bones reforged beneath molten muscle; the heartbeat of titans echoing in a war-scarred chest.
Shard of Skill (Ranger)
Hands guided by mythic instinct; bullets bending toward their targets yet leaving magazines mysteriously full; footsteps evaporating from memory; everyday objects returning like loyal birds when thrown into the wind.
Shard of Control (Manipulator)
Silk-thread lies woven into steel-hard commands; minds bent like heated glass; the soft laughter of puppeteers echoing through shadowed corridors.
Shard of Force (Effector)
Pulses, waves, and resonant beams; elements carved into obedience; war drums beating from within a blazing brass engine.
Shard of Prodigy (Genius)
Thought spirals unfolding like blooming fractals; elegant equations etched into living instinct; revelations striking with lightning precision.
Shard of Invention (Techie)
Machinery humming in obedient harmony; sparks skipping across chrome bones; creations rising from gears, wires, and midnight inspiration.
Shard of Speed (Movement)
Wind past a blurring dagger; atoms split and reassembled at breakneck speeds; soothing hands brushing a speeding demon.
Shard of Evolution (Mutant)
Flesh rewriting its own commandments; extra limbs unfurling like hungry roots; organs humming with strange, volatile power; the whisper of impossible biology crafting new shapes with every heartbeat.
Once a shard is claimed, you can still learn from the others but your core will always echo the first fragment you grasped.

Heroes

When the city cracked under the weight of its own sins, a few refused to let it fall. Drawn from accidents, awakenings, or the ancestral echoes of something older than humanity, the heroes of the Bright Fracture are the ones who stood up instead of collapsing. Their powers are jagged, unpredictable things -- gifts born from toxic miracles, psychic shockwaves, or machines humming with forbidden energy. But they wield them for something larger than themselves. They are not saints. They are survivors who decided the story needed someone to fight back.

Villains

The breach did not just empower the righteous. It fed the desperate, the broken, and the ambitious. It whispered to criminals, scientists, prophets, and monsters alike -- showing them what they could be if they stopped caring who got hurt along the way. These are the inheritors of the Dark Overflow: villains shaped by hunger, vengeance, or visions carved into their minds by the same cosmic leak that stains the city's underbelly. They wear their powers like scars -- marks of a world that never gave them a chance, so now they'll take everything it denied them.
